October 2014 - Race cars, Snoopy and Cosplay

I have decided to try to put a monthly entry at minimum for this blog and here is my one for October -

The start of the month saw the last round of the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch GP circuit. The weather was much better than last year as it didnt rain till the end. We went prepared with new water proofs and warm clothing.

The racing was full of action as you can see.

There were casualties

The Marshalls had plenty of work

In the end Colin Turkington was the new champion.
We also had a new member of the family called Snoopy. Snoopy is my wifes new car, an MG3 in white with black highlights hence the name.

Meet Snoopy :-)
The other thing of note that happened at the end of the month was a trip to the Comic Con in Londons Excel arena where we saw lots of great Cosplay and spotted a few famous people.

Doctor Who is back

The same weekend as my trip to the Great Central railway saw the return of my very favourite Sci-Fi series, Doctor Who.

With a new Doctor in the shape of Peter Capaldi I have been looking forward to this for a while.
The new Doctor is brilliant, far more blunt that the previous ones, angrier and far less worried about how people think of him. He is also far more believable for a 2000 year old man.

I found a short video created by Pteryx that is simply brilliant.

The Great Central Railway

The meal with my daughter was fantastic, wonderful food and excelent company. The meal included two tickets for unlimited travel on the railway which we used to kill time before our feast.

A few pictures from the day:

The line has many locomotives including both diesel

and steam

We took a walk to the very end of the current line where it crosses the canal

We were there on a Peppa Pig special day

My daughter Amanda and I on the train

The other train was pulled by this magnificent beast

The train stops on the viaduct over the reservoir for some stunning views as the sun goes down

Very long time waiting

Its been a year since my last post, I really do need to keep this up to date.

Oh well, to this weekend. Tomorrow I am going to the Great Central Railway with my eldest daughter Amanda to have a meal on the train as part of my birthday present (50th). Then we hope to watch the recording of the first episode of Dr Who with Peter cpaldi in the title role, I really cannot wait for both events :-)

I am going to try to post something here on a daily basis if I can.
