Lockdown 2.0

I had hoped to get some more films in  once Cineworld re-opened but it was not to be as they closed soon after once the big releases were delayed till 2021. This was a big disappointment but there was nothing I could do about it. I will be watching stuff on Netflix, Disney Plus and Prime as well as the terrestrial channels and try to do a review every week.

I will also be working on my railway stuff and try to put a few videos together about them.

I hope everyone stays safe in this time and we all come out the other end unscathed and ready for Christmas.

2nd film after lookdown is a Marvel one in the form of the New Mutants.

A young girl, Danielle Moonstar, is caught in a disaster and is saved by he father who hides her from harm.

She awakes in a strange hospital with several other youngsters who all have their own stories to tell as young mutants.

Danielle has to discover her own powers whilst battling horrors and her imprisonment whilst finding out the real intent of the people holding her in the hospital.

I enjoyed the film, it wasnt as good as most other Marvel fare but certainly better than your normal Mutant films (Logan and Deadpool aside).

I think its worth a look with some effective scares and some great monsters. It does have the feel of a beginning of a series but none the worse for that.

Looking forward to the weekend.

At the end of another week I was looking forward to seeing my daughters again but my eldest has hurt her foot so probably wont be able to travel so we will probably go and see her instead in a few weeks time.

I will be at a lose end tomorrow so the grass will get a cut and probably some more tidying up will happen as well.

Sunday will be an IKEA day and I hope to get some more bits for the work area in the spare room. This should help me keep it tidy.

2020 is a write off

With my Daughters wedding on the shores of Lake Como in Italy cancelled and my gall bladder causing me to get a nasty case of jaundice meaning a week in hospital I have decided that 2020 is a write off.

An upside to this is that my savings account has never looked as healthy and I have been able to get some DIY jobs done although the gall bladder problem did put me out of action for 3 weeks due to not eating for the best part of a week. I do feel better now and I spent a whole day yesterday at the North Weald and District Miniature Railway and most of today tidying the garden, a job I will continue this week.

I hope to film a video of my garden railway this week and I will put a link up once I have done.

Back in the cinema again

The lockdown and subsequent  rules for establishments like Cineworld has seen 6 months since I last went to see a film on the big screen.

The film I saw was this rather mind bending sci-fi thriller starring the rather good John David Washington as the Protagonist.

The film opens with a standard special forces mission going bad but it shows the skills of the Protagonist who is a rather skilled warrior.

I will not give anything more away as it will spoil the film and it is one you need to watch closely as there are clues as to what might happen later.

The film is well worth seeing and the cast including Robert PattinsonMichael CaineKenneth Branagh and Elizabeth Debicki are all really good and you care about their characters especially Pattison who is rather good as Washington;s sidekick.

Go see the film, mainly because its good but also because our cinemas need support.

Couch to 5k

I did the Couch to 5k program this time last year but had a problem with my calf muscle and never got back into it again. I have started it all again and found it quite easy compared with last year.
2.3km in 24 mins.

Lock Down 2020

I have just realized I have not added any blog entries for over a year and now that we are in the middle of what seems to be a global lock down due to the Covid-19 Virus I  think its a great time to start updating it again.

I have been furloughed for 2 weeks now and there is certainly no sight of it ending at the moment although I was told it would be for 3 weeks initially.

So far the time on my hands has seen my garden looking far neater than it did after the winter storms. I have run the railway and I am half way through trimming the bushes and hedges that line one side of the garden, Lots of cuttings have been shredded, a flower pot shelf has gone up and my garden clock is being refurbished.
