The car before work began. Will she ever be whole like this again?
Today I started the long job of stripping the engine of my car to allow me to remove the head and replace the head gasket. I removed the radiator and its surround but only after spending over an hour cutting off a small nut and bolt at the bottom of the radiator holding a large bracket that supports the air-con pipes.

The coolant as it drained out, yukkk!
The coolant that came out of the rad was a horrible greasy brown mess and certainly points to a failure of the head gasket. I don’t think I have a cracked head as there is no smoke in the exhaust and there is also no coolant in the oil.

The radiator and its shroud are out
It may be a slow start but it nice to make a start. More posts as the strip down continues.
